The following is a sample specification for the use of
PocketCaps:
Cutting and Capping Tendons After Stressing:
- Do not cut tendons or grout pockets until
elongation records are reviewed and accepted by the Engineer of Record or
Architect.
- Clean tendons, anchorages and pockets of corrosion
preventive coating with non-corrosive solvent before removal of excess
length of post-tensioning tendons.
- Each tendon shall be cold-sheared using the "PocketShear®",
available from Tiger Industries Corporation at (214) 654-0696, or equal, within
the pocket, allowing for no less than 3/4" of concrete cover over the
end of each tendon.
- All tendon ends shall be left clean and free of
burrs.
- All tendon ends shall be accessible for inspection
prior to and during, cutting and placement of protective caps and/or grout.
- All Dead Ends and Stressing Ends shall have
PocketCaps, available from Tiger Industries Corporation at (214) 654-0696, or
equal, applied for corrosion protection prior to grouting. Caps shall
contain Grease that meets or exceeds the Post Tensioning Institute's
requirements for corrosion protection materials. Caps shall be attached to
the strand end and have a closed cell, polyethylene foam seal.
- Do not damage tendon, anchorage or concrete during
removal of excess length of tendon.
